I am available to work on a wide range of modern language teacher training projects, with a particular emphasis on French:
The vast majority of my work is putting together half- and full-day training workshops for primary school teachers in both the state and private sectors to enable you to gain valuable skills to make teaching primary languages a joy rather than a chore.
My workshops are often attended by teachers with no previous language training or skills, but most activities will require teachers to have rudimentary personal language skills - a little French can go a long way!
Themes that I cover in my workshops include (but are not limited to):
All of the workshops involve using creative activities to engage children in learning through the medium of the language:
The workshops do not put a heavy emphasis on IT-based learning, but the skills that teachers will gain will complement any technology-based learning.
Subject to my availability I am happy to accept workshop bookings from schools, consortia of schools, local authorities and regional support groups.
Please email me or call 01582 712614 if you’re interested in organising a workshop.
All of my workshops can be part- or whole-day events, and can be combined with other activities or with each other to form a language-related programme to suit your specific needs.
For schools that are preparing to teach a language for the first time, I can organise an exciting, fun and engaging programme of events spanning the whole of a school day to enthuse pupils, staff and parents alike.
These are day-long training sessions for teachers that combine activities on culture, food, background information on a particular language under the umbrella of “inter-cultural activities”. The aim of each training day is to enable teachers to be able to run their own “Language Day” often to tie in to the European Day of Languages which takes place annually on the 26th of September, but could be run at any time of year to coincide with specific cultural events - Bastille Day, Saints Days, festivals and so on.
At all of my sessions I bring along a selection of resources that teachers can take a look at to give them ideas for sourcing resources for specific lessons or Language Days they may be organising. With many contacts in manufacturing and publishing I am also able to source unusual materials, a commercial service I offer on an ad-hoc basis.
Events for the primary modern language teacher occur throughout the year. You will often find me speaking at these events around the subjects I cover in my Workshops, Language Days and other work I am involved in.
I regularly post in my blog about upcoming events I am speaking at. To keep up to date with my next appearance, subscribe to my email newsletter or my RSS feed.
If you’re interested in any of the services I have to offer or just want to talk about how we could work together on a specific project, please get in touch.
I look forward to hearing from you!
